At Hexham Community Centre Playgroup children are at the centre of everything that we do.

Our priority is the happiness of your child. We’ve created a warm and nurturing environment in which your child can flourish, grow and learn, with lots of praise and hugs along the way!
We pride ourselves on our caring approach and believe that children learn most through playing, exploring, being active, creative and by asking lots questions.
We celebrate the fact that each child is totally unique and support them to develop confidence in their own abilities and begin a lifelong love of learning.

Hexham Community Centre Playgroup is nestled in our beautiful Community Centre building on Gilesgate, opposite Bouchon, just a short walk from the marketplace and Hexham Abbey.
Access & Parking
With excellent parking next to our building, and only a 5 minutes’ walk from Hexham’s train and bus stations, we are ideally placed for families living in the Hexham area.

Opening times & fees
We’re open weekdays
- Morning session: 9.00am-12.00noon
- Afternoon session: 12.00noon-3.00pm
Fees
Our fees are inclusive of snacks, drinks and milk.
- Half day: £14.50
- Full day: £29

Special Educational and Disability Needs
We cherish the fact that all of our children are totally unique. We care for many children with a wide variety of different needs and are happy to discuss any additional needs your child may have so that we can work with you to support these wherever possible.

We aim to build a strong partnership with you and encourage parents to share information to enable us to support all aspects of your child’s development.
Fantastic setting
We’re housed in a safe and secure, dedicated area in the Hexham Community Centre building. Our space is warm and bright, and has been designed to encourage sociable play, fun and learning at every step of your child’s journey with us.
Experienced Team
Our wonderful team are experienced and highly skilled in early years care and learning. But far more importantly, they love their jobs, and they love your kids. They look after your children attentively and with kindness - if a child falls over, we’ll scoop them up and give them a cuddle. All staff hold up-to-date DBS certification and have completed a comprehensive induction process.
We believe that learning should be fun!
A typical day might include
- a mix of indoor and outdoor activities
- craft and painting
- trips to the ‘Wildside’ at Cockshaw Burn
- messy play in our mud kitchen
- visits to our allotment
- sensory den
- role play area
- dancing in the disco corner
- lots and lots of fun!
