We are recruiting! New roles at Hexham Community Centre

Do you think you could make a real difference in your community by being the welcoming face of the region's biggest Community Centre, dedicating your time to providing meaningful and vital activity to combat social isolation, or by maintaining the highest standard of care for our historic building.

We are currently recruiting for:

  • Centre Facilitators (various part time hours and casual work available)
  • Morning Caretaker (15 hours)
  • Community Activity Facilitator (12 hours)

Centre Facilitator

Various part-time hours available. £12 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hexham Community Centre for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join the team to support activity at the Centre.

The Centre Facilitator will work alongside colleagues with decades of experience as the welcoming face of the Community Centre, greeting Centre Users and visitors by staffing our Reception area, taking room bookings and ensuring the pleasant, safe and secure use of the building by all by assisting with room setups, routine cleaning and emergency evacuation.

Shifts will be 4.5 hours each and spread across weekdays, evenings and weekends, with a regular shift pattern in place. There will be opportunities to take on additional hours to cover holiday and sickness, or as the business requires.

The ideal candidate will be personable, reliable and able to take initiative and problem solve when responding to enquiries.

Morning Caretaker

15 hours per week. £12 per hour

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hexham Community Centre for an motivated and organised individual to join the team to support activity at a busy and thriving community centre.

The Morning Caretaker will join colleagues with decades of experience in a crucial role at the Community Centre, maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the Centre to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment for all Centre users. General duties will include cleaning, room set ups and light maintenance tasks, including repairs and redecoration.

Shifts will be 7:30 – 10:30am Monday to Friday. A job share would be considered for the right candidates. There will be opportunities to take on additional hours to cover holiday and sickness, or as the business requires.

The ideal candidate will be personable, reliable and able to take initiativ, recognising tasks and taking action without need for instruction. The role would suit a cleaner or handyperson looking for additional, regular hours.

 

Community Activity Facilitator

12 hours per week at £13 per hour

Potential to increase hours dependent on funding

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Hexham Community Centre for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to play an important role in delivering and developing our charitable work, providing activity tackling the impact of the cost of living and social isolation in our community.

The Community Activity Facilitator will work alongside colleagues with decades of experience in delivering our charitable work tackling social isolation and the impact of poverty in Hexham and the surrounding area.

Ideally a candidate will be available to deliver sessions at the following times each week:

  • Wednesday 9am – 2pm
  • Friday 12.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Sunday 10am – 2pm

The ideal candidate will have an active interest in the community and issues facing older, vulnerable, and low-income members of the community. They will be creative, developing and delivering engaging activity. They will be an excellent communicator used to communicating with a wide range of people. They will be an enthusiastic advocate for the programme and the Centre.
