Summer Holidays 2025 - Low Cost and Local Listings

A whole host of community organisations and local businesses have planned a summer full of fun right on our doorstep! This day by day listing includes links to activities which need booked. Fill your summer with free or low cost, local activity.

Tuesday 22 July - Summer Garden Tuesdays at Hexham Community Garden, 10am – 2pm Grow Hexham and Hexham Community Garden have a Summer of Fun, Games and Gardening ahead. These sessions are free and everyone is welcome although children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesday 23 July - Upcycled Micro Garden with Hexham Library at Hexham Community Garden, 2.30 - 3.30pm Create a tiny garden in an upcycled plot. Anything goes with this micro mobile patch which proves you don’t need a big space to get growing. FREE but tickets required Book here

Wednesday 23 July - South Tynedale Railway with Tanga, 3pm - 4.45pm Take the 3pm departure from Alston station with Tanga and South Tynedale Railway at a specially reduced rate! For children with SEND and their families. £4 for kids, £5 for adults. Booking essential

Friday 25 July - Storytelling with Hexham Library at Hexham Community Garden, 2pm and 4pm Join Hexham library in the wild at Hexham Community Garden for a very special Story Garden storytime. Storyteller Chris Adriaanse brings his fun and lively session of stories about the wonders of nature and the great outdoors to Hexham. £5.00 booking required, click to book

Monday 28 July - Bee our Guest at Hexham Library, 10.30 - 11.30am Building solitary bee and bug hotels, and then making some 'bee buns' to help make your outdoor space more attractive to our insect friends. This family friendly activity is FREE to attend but spaces are limited so book your place today.

Tuesday 29 July - Calvert Trust with Tanga Club, 10am - 3pm A thrill seeking day for young people who have SEND, plus siblings! Activities will include zip coaster (min. weight 4.5 stones), king swing and indoor wall, plus other activities which will take place between 10-3. Lunch is included for children and adults! £15 for kids, £6 for accompanying adult. Thursday 31 July - 'Potion Making' Fun in the Garden at Hexham Community Centre, 11am – 2pm  Garden games and creative upcycling crafts in our stunning Jubilee Garden, starting by mixing your own potion and learning about the magical and medicinal uses of plants.
