Luncheon Club and Open Arms receive funding boost from Social Enterprise Support Fund
We are delighted to have recieved funding to help us continue to deliver our popular weekly Luncheon Club and Open Arms groups, which help tackle social isolation amongst the older members of our community.
Luncheon Club, run by our marvellous staff member Stephen, welcomes people to the Community Centre on a Wednesday for a hot meal and light conversation. The dedication of our staff and volunteers kept the service running as Meals on Wheels during the pandemic, but we are now glad to welcome our member back to the Centre.
Open Arms takes place on a Tuesday afternoon and with the support of the young people from Hexham Youth Initiative provides a place for people to come together over tea and scones.
Both groups are subsidised by funding and we are thrilled to have been chosed by the Social Enterprise Support Fund to recieve funding to continue the groups over the next 12 months. The Social Enterprise Support Fund provides vital and rapid financial support to help social enterprises in England focussed on supporting their communities to recover from the pandemic. The Social Enterprise Support Fund is a two-year project, delivered by Big Issue Invest, Key Fund, Resonance, the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) and UnLtd, in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, and will jointly deliver £18million in grants.
