Warm Welcome

Hexham Community Centre's Warm Welcome is here to help Hexham residents who are struggling with social isolation and/or the cost of living during the winter months.
Starting on Sunday 19 November the Warm Welcome activities at Hexham Community Centre provide not only a warm place and a warm meal, but will also introduce people to new skills and hobbies with a range of activities from carpet bowls to crochet!
Everyone is welcome to come along to a Warm Welcome activity, they are free for those who need it to be, with suggested donations welcome from those who can.
After School Stay and Play, Mon-Fri, 3.30 - 5pm
Avoid dark nights and cold parks by joining us at our After School Stay and Play, every week night from 3.30 - 5pm for fun, games and a warm meal before heading home. Suggested donation £2, no need to book.
Monday - Games, Crafts and Pokemon - with pasta for tea
Tuesday - Open Arms, traditional crafts and games - with pizza for tea
Wednesday - Games and Crafts - with nuggets/fish fingers and chips for tea
Thursday - LEGO Club - with toasties and beans for tea
Friday - Games, Crafts and Gardening - with soup and sandwiches for tea
Open Arms, Tuesday, 3.30pm-5pm
Join us for an intergenerational social group with board games, handicrafts, jigsaws and a buffet tea. Run in partnership with Hexham Youthy's after school drop in, everyone is welcome. Suggested donation £2, no need to book.
Lunch Club, Wednesday, 11.30am-1.30pm
Our weekly Lunch Club provides companionship for older and vulnerable people, with a home cooked two-course meal. During the winter months everyone is welcome. Suggested donation £3, please let us know if you are coming (first time only) by calling 01434 602707.
Garden Social, Thursday, 12pm-2pm
An outside group, unless it is too chilly - then we'll move inside. Join us for cake and a cuppa and help grow our new Jubilee Garden. Everyone welcome. Suggested donation £2
Carpet Bowls, Friday, 1pm-3pm
Friendly and welcoming carpet bowls group, learn a new hobby, meet new people and enjoy a bowl of soup and a roll. All ages and abilities welcome. Suggested donation £2
Sunday Social, Sunday, 11am-1pm (starting Sunday 19 November)
Get together to play board games, chat and enjoy a warm filling lunch. Everyone is welcome. Suggested donation £2
School Holiday Stay and Play, 10am until 2pm
Our Games and Craft Room has ping pong, LEGO, Board Games and fun crafts to keep children entertained during the school holidays.
We'll be open for the second week of the Christmas holidays, Tuesday 2 January until Friday 5 January and again everyday in February Half Term.
Cost?
The Warm Welcome is free for those who need it to be, with a suggested donation welcome from those who can.
Transport?
If you will struggle to get to the Community Centre, but would like to attend a Warm Welcome session please call us on 01434 602707 and we can look at arranging a volunteer to pick you up.
Volunteers needed
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us offer our Warm Welcome programme.
