Volunteers needed at Hexham Community Centre

Volunteers Needed!
Can you help out at your local community centre with a range of roles available to suit your interests.

Hexham Community Centre is introducing more activities and groups for local people, with the aim of reducing isolation and loneliness, encouraging more active participation and providing affordable, yet enriching experiences for everyone.

You can help us by offering a little of your time to help by being an extra pair of hands. If you are interested in any of the roles below please contact Jill at manager@hexhamcommunitycentre.org or pop in to the Centre and say hello.

Wednesday Lunchtime (11am - 2pm) Luncheon Club:
Running for over 20 years, Luncheon Club prepares a hot two-course meal for older people living in Hexham and nearby. We require a couple of volunteers to help serve the dinner, clear up and most importantly to chat with the guests.

Tuesday afternoon (3pm and 5pm) Volunteer Drivers:

On a Tuesday afternoon we host Open Arms an intergenerational afternoon tea and for some members it is tricky to get to us, we are looking into the possibility of pairing up members with a volunteer driver so that they can attend the group. DBS check (we will provide) and volunteer driver's insurance will be required.

From November, various days and times, Warm Welcome Facilitators:
In response to the fuel crisis the Centre will be hosting a programme of new activity to welcome people into the Centre for a warm space, a warm meal and most importantly a warm welcome. We require a team of volunteers to help greet guests and serve hot drinks and food.

Summer holidays, Mondays 10 - 3, Games and Craft Room:
We are looking to build up a small team of people with an interest in working with children and families to help us deliver school holiday activities for under 10s. A DBS check will be required for this role but we will provide that.

Day and time TBC, Gardening Volunteers:
Our new garden is almost ready to go and we are looking to start a number of new group bringing together people of all ages, 2 - 102 to create and share our community garden. We are looking for keen gardeners to help facilitate the sessions, we are happy to be guided by volunteers on how the garden should run and grow.

If you are interested in any of these roles please contact Jill at manager@hexhamcommunitycentre.org or pop in to the Centre and say hello.
